Questions

Are these laws real?
Yes. Every law on this site is quoted word for word from the official online code that publishes it, such as a state legislature's statutes website or the U.S. Code on govinfo.gov, and each page links to that source. Before each build we fetch every page again and check that the quoted words are still there. On October 14, 2026 all 57 matched.
Are they still in effect?
Each quote matched the text the official site published on the date we checked, and we leave out any section the site marks as repealed. That's a text match, not a check of current legal status. We don't track how often a law is enforced or how courts have read it, and some sections describe things that no longer happen, like party telephone lines. Each page says what the official text shows and nothing more.
Where are the famous weird laws I've heard about?
Many of the weird laws passed around online can't be found in any official code. We only list a law when we can quote it from the official source, so some well-known ones aren't here.
What does “history note starts” mean?
Most code websites print a short history after each section, listing the session laws that created and changed it. We show the earliest year in that note. It's a quick guide to how old the wording is, not a legal finding about when the rule took effect.
Is this legal advice?
No. It's a reference for curious readers. If a law affects you, read the full official text and ask a lawyer licensed in that state.
