What the law says

“Any person who bribes, or offers to bribe, any judge or other official in any horse show, with intent to influence his decision or judgment concerning said horse show, shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.”

Penalty

This section doesn't print a penalty of its own. Other parts of the North Carolina General Statutes may set one; we haven't looked them up, so we don't state one here.

History note

“(1963, c. 1100, s. 1; 1969, c. 1224, s. 1; 1993, c. 539, s. 251; 1994, Ex. Sess., c. 24, s. 14(c).)”

As printed on the official page.

The earliest year in this note is 1963. That's the earliest year the note prints. It doesn't establish when this wording was enacted, took effect or first appeared.

In plain English

Our reading

North Carolina wrote a crime specifically for horse shows. Offering a judge or show official a bribe to sway a decision is a Class 2 misdemeanor, whether or not the judge takes it.
